On a clinical note—
I believe in the power of connection, empathy, and personalized care. I strive to meet each client with understanding and respect for their unique experiences, and honor their struggles, without judgment. I’m good at '“seeing” people, or so I’ve been told, and I consider myself to be highly intuitive, perceptive, sometimes a bit alternative, and direct. I collaborate with my clients to uncover underlying patterns, explore their emotions, and develop coping strategies to navigate life’s challenges— I love what I do and I feel honored to do it!
I recognize the uniqueness of each person and I strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment where one’s true self is free to be expressed. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship which can be curative in itself, this is why it is important to me to bring my most genuine self in order to share an authentic experience with my clients in session. I lead with passion, curiosity, intuition, compassion, humor, and empathy.
In therapy, I assist my clients in uncovering blocks and support them as they attempt to make changes; which I recognize takes a tremendous amount of courage. Therapy looks different based on what my clients hope to achieve from our time together. Flexibility in sessions is key, as it is important to me to use a variety of interventions to adapt my approach to best help you. In session, you can expect me to be direct and active, while being invitational; ensuring you know you have choices. I’m curious about how stressors and trauma are embodied and together, we look for ways to help shift patterns in one’s mind, body, and spirit to live a more authentic existence. Regardless of the struggles which may have caused people to disconnect from their true selves in the past, I believe we have the ability to heal by reintegrating disowned parts of ourselves and helping to mobilize and support past traumas with corrective experiences in therapy. I practice utilizing a collection of practical tools that supports clients in accessing their innate healing wisdom. I help you uncover your inherent wholeness, working toward the relationship with yourself and with others that you’ve always wanted.
These days, I mostly (but not exclusively) work by integrating somatic therapies, as I find they are a truly holistic healing experience working with the mind-body connection, supporting growth, increasing capacity to be with oneself, healing trauma, and finding ease in the mind, the nervous system, and the body. When stress/trauma is trapped in one’s body, it can hinder one’s ability to make desired changes in their lives. This work can help relieve pain and anxiety while restoring capacity for embodiment, presence, well-being, and curiosity; to support sustained emotional resilience.
Before starting Casting a Light Psychotherapy in 2024, I accumulated over 10 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, and families in various settings. Most recently, I spent 5 years as a therapist at a private group practice in Chicago, working with individuals, couples, and families. During this time, I developed my identity as a clinician and honed my areas of passion before embarking on my solo journey.

A bit about my personhood—
I consider myself to be a passionate individual who values truth, integrity, authenticity, and self-awareness/self-reflection. As an individual who has experienced my fair share of trauma, including Complex Trauma, I have seen firsthand how relationships can hurt but also how they can heal. My experiences in therapy and life serve as reminders of the possibility of healing within relationships. In addition to therapy, I dabble with a myriad of other healing modalities to support my mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health. This is especially important as I am also an individual living with chronic illness.
My journey in this life has allowed me to empathize with the suffering of others and I don’t believe I could relate to my clients the way I do having not experienced all that I have. Through these experiences I’ve concluded that people are incredibly resilient which allows us to navigate this never-ending process of change that comes with it’s own fair share of growing pains. My soul’s purpose is to assist others in tapping into their personal power as they transition through some of these darker times and to not be afraid to embody their unique light.
Balance is important to continue doing the work I love— it allows me to show up for my clients, myself, and my ‘people’! I am grateful to have a strong support network of friends and family as well as my furry children, Harvey & Sherwood, who certainly keep me laughing, well snuggled, and on my toes! Animals have always been a big part of my life in various capacities as a source of great joy, comfort, at one time a profession, and therapy! In addition to spending quality time with my loved ones, my self-care consists of moving my body and staying active in a variety of ways, laughing, an ever-changing, but, ever-present spiritual practice, spending time exploring nature, eating a plant-based diet, learning (especially passionate about health and wellness), attending concerts (preferably outdoors in the Summer time), dancing, traveling, journaling, tending to my plants, and listening to music!
“I am often asked how I can work with a subject as morbid as trauma without becoming burned out or depressed. My answer to this question is that witnessing the transformation that takes place in people when they master their traumas has proven to be a deeply sustaining and uplifting experience in my life.”
— Dr. Peter Levine, Founder of Somatic Experiencing
-“The Healers Path:
In the realm of healing, authenticity reigns supreme. It’s not about swooping in to rescue or patch up, but rather about recognizing the inherent power within each individual.
It’s important to understand that the role of a healer is not to impose fixes but to walk alongside those who seek to heal themselves, offering support and illumination as they navigate through darkness towards the remembrance of their light. It’s about honoring every facet of human existence— the strength, the vulnerabilities, the resilience, and the completeness.
In this journey towards wholeness, the authentic healer serves as a beacon of compassion and understanding, guiding individuals to reconnect with their inner power and embrace their innate wholeness. It’s not just about addressing symptoms; it’s about nurturing the soul and fostering growth from within.
Let’s walk with each other, to the depths of our being and recognize the profound beauty of human existence in all its complexities.”
